Peplum Lace-on-Lace

Peplum, nice word. Has a certain ring to it. Well The Peplum is one of this season’s hottest trends! My fave part is the fact that it can cover jiggly bits and still deliver glamour. I mean the Peplum has to be God sent! Personally, I love me a garment that is feminine, practical and bang on trend.

Zara blue lace peplum blouse

I've had my eye on this lovely lacy peplum number from Zara for a while and when Zara went on sale, it was the first item I zeroed in on.  As soon as I got to Zara on the day the sales started, I made a quick beeline to the section where I had been stalking this beauty but alas the pieces remaining were all in large sizes (better big sizes than small ones I always say).  Back Naijaside, a quick visit to Ahmet (my long suffering tailor who I have since reconciled with) sorted the size issue out.

Warehouse aqua blue skirt

The belt was to give the silhouette more definition and the choice of pink was to give the outfit's colour some contrast. The aqua blue skirt is from Warehouse.

I wore the outfit to church.

step on a crack and break your mum's back? I think not!

I like the way the peplum trend has caught on. You can find peplum tops, skirts, blazers even pants.

Wonder if anyone can say peplum ten times without blabbing......1,2,3..go .....peplum, peplum....

Birthday Wishlist

Hi all. So my birthday is in like two weeks (3rd September) and I have taken it on myself to list the things this blogger has been craving all year round.  God if you ever get round to reading my blog before the 3rd of September please Father Lord make all (ok most of) my wishes come through. Amen!

YSL cocktail rings

Samsung Galaxy 3

Miu Miu taffeta point toe bow pumps

Michael Kors Quartz Rosegold Chronograph Watch

Celine Red Boston Tote Bag

Stella Macartney peplum dress

Mac Air

Chanel 2.55

Salvotore Ferragamo Flats

Aunty Funmi Hair (source funmihair.com)

iPhone

Christian Louboutin nude spiked piagelle pumps

Givenchy patent black antigona bag

All this I ask (in no particular order) in Jesus name.....Amen!

High-waisted Jeans

I've always loved high-waisted skinny jeans. I mean whats not to like? It's supposed to accentuate a woman's curves right? Someone once told me it wasn't for women with curves and I half believed her but decided to try it out for myself.

To avoid looking like a huge carrot by wearing a tight fitted top, I decided to wear a baggy shirt instead.

The jeans is a dark green affair which unfortunately isn't showing in the pictures (my birthday is on the 3rd of September maybe I'll get a camera a a birthday pressie *hint*hint*) . I wore an orange shirt to compliment the colour of the jeans.

I wore a pair of brown high heeled block-heeled shoes with this cute bow on it.

I decided to give my hair a breather by not wearing a wig or weave.  Honestly, I'm tired of wearing weaves that I ran out and bought a couple of wigs for those days that I need me a little more than what God gave me.  My hair sits below my collarbone and is healthy. I have thought about going au naturel and have decided it's not for me, I don't have the time nor the patience for the careful primping, combing and shea-buttering. I'm neither on the side of Team Relaxer nor Team Natural, just do whatever suits you.

I love these shoes because they are super high with chunky heels which makes them super balanced so I don't topple over or waddle around.

Thanks for all the emails and comments.

Scarf Print

Hi everyone, happy eid mubarak to my muslim friends.  Pity this isn't the ram eating sallah.....oh well.

As everyone knows by now scarf prints are soooo totally in. This season saw the resurgence of the baroque (scarf print) trend both on the runway and the high street.  Remember the 80's and 90's that had Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista and Helena Christensen rocking Versace’s silk baroque print outfits (with massive safety pins and gold everywhere) to rappers like Notorious B.I.G (rapping about watching us from his Versace shades)? The 80’s and early 90’s were definitely the heydays of this trend.

Zara scarf print blouse

Fast forward more than a decade after the scarf print is back! Versace, Pucci, Chanel and D&G are mostly to blame for this resurrection.  As expected celebs have piled on the bandwagon sporting scarf prints to die for. Celebs like Tyga, Rick Ross, Rihanna, Beyonce and Drake have decided to get their Versace print on.

It trickled down to normal folks (like you and me unless one of the above mentioned celebs decides to drop by and is reading this) when Versace did a collaboration with H&M last year. Yours sincerely missed out on the opportunity to get my claws on any of the items but my pain was soothed when high street brands like River Island started churning out their own version of the trend. I am not ashamed to say I have gone slightly overboard with my purchases (high street versions of course).

I got this gorgeous scarf print shirt from Zara. The thought of wearing prints splattered with bright swirls, paisleys, gold chains and medusa heads (a la versace) gave me goosies when I thought about it so this print was right up my street when I saw it.

I saw this really nice scarf print blouse on the Onyinye Fafi-Obi's blog (click HERE to view the wonder), if you view the comments section you'll read how I unabashedly begged for the blouse. She hasn't gotten back to me yet so I guess it's a no then fashionphoenix06....right?

Well guess I'll have to keep an eye on her blog for her monthly blog sale (she owns and runs Elsie Vintage).

The uber skinny jeans is from New Look.  I've had it for a while but stopped wearing it because I couldn't squeeze into it, thank God for stress and sensible eating I am proud to say that I've lost some weight and the jeans now fit like a glove.

The orange hued pumps are from Topshop. I ab-so-lute-ly love them!!!!!
